A fake “SUN” in your bedroom to wake you up…

Posted on 12 July 2010 by admin

Are you one of that person who bumps off the alarm and continues to sleep in winter season or you don’t want to miss that important match relayed at middle of the night, then Sunrise simulator created by Bogdan Raducanu might just help you in doing so.

He has used a 150w halogen reflector for the sun-setup. The command signal from the clock’s microprocessor is used as an input to the microcontroller i.e. ATTiny13. The ATTiny13 is used to brighten up the Halogen lamp slowly using a triac. Then a signal is sent back to the clock’s audio amplifier to set on the alarm sound. The time for which the halogen to brighten up is set up through programming. Here he has set it for 20 minutes. Of course, this requires setting the alarm 20 minutes earlier than when you want it to sound.

What a great idea! I could really use something like this. I work various shifts day and night. Fortunately I have made it that my bedroom is extrememly dark no matter what time it is. The “fake sun” would be a nice subtle awakening.
